Male and Female Bengal Cats

General Informations
Karucats and dogs : élevage de Bengals , Britishs et Epagneuls nains continentaux en Guadeloupe

When you bring home your puppy, you'll need to bring a crate (size 2) or a carrier bag. This will serve as his refuge, his den, in short, a place where he can sleep soundly, safe from any unsettling external events (another dog, cat, children, strangers, vacuum cleaner, objects on a shelf above him, etc.). If you want to avoid damage in the house (chewed shoes, torn books, accidents on the sofa, etc.) or prevent him from coming into contact with toxic products or dangerous objects, it's best to get a playpen, where he can stay with his crate open, and place puppy pads on the floor when you're not home. I will leave you a starter kit, containing a leash, a harness, a ball, chew treats, a fabric or soft toy with the familiar smells of its tribe, bags for picking up "poops" outside on walks, and a small pack of PUPPY MINI kibble (Hill's or Royal Canin). I advise you to feed him in the morning, at midday, and in the late afternoon before 6 pm at the latest, to avoid nighttime accidents, or free-feed him if you're not home between noon and 2 pm. However, he must always have access to his water bowl, wherever he is. As soon as the puppy wakes up from his nap, or after his meal, he should go outside and stay for at least 30 minutes to get used to relieving himself outdoors. Otherwise, you'll need a designated potty area in the house, marked off with puppy pads on the floor. (If he goes where he shouldn't, just say "no pee there" and take him outside. Don't clean up the mess in front of him (it's like you're giving him credit for what he did). Keep in mind that until he's four months old, your puppy doesn't have full bladder control, so it's pointless to scold him if he relieves himself anywhere. Start by saying "no pee there" just so he gets used to associating words with actions and events.) Your puppy needs to see as many people and things as possible to be well-socialized and to better understand the outside world. It's good to always use the same words so he gets used to them and learns them more easily, such as "sit, lie down, stay, heel, give, fetch" in a high-pitched, cheerful tone; and "shh, that's no, don't touch, don't jump, leave it" in a low, firm tone (without shouting). Your hand is reserved for petting, to gain his complete trust. If you need to correct him: either use a symbolic gesture with a rolled-up cloth or newspaper, or gently grasp the scruff of his neck and move it lightly, and briefly, as mother dogs do; or isolate him for a short time. A puppy needs plenty of sleep until he's 6 months old, so he should have at least two long naps (of at least 3 hours each) during the day for proper growth and emotional and mental development. PREVENTION OF ILLNESS OR ACCIDENTS: He will have received deworming treatment before leaving, and afterwards, he will need to be given MILPRO every month until he is 6 months old. Alternatively, to avoid forgetting, you can ask the veterinarian to give him a heartworm injection (Gardian or Affilaria) at 6 months of age, then again at 1 year of age, for peace of mind (this is twice a year). Otherwise, he risks contracting heartworm disease (a disease transmitted by mosquito bites; it creates worms that eventually surround the heart, causing cardiac arrest after a few months of debilitating and irreversible symptoms (shortness of breath, coughing, weight loss, lethargy, etc.)). - His next vaccination is scheduled for 4 months of age (after January 14th), then again at 1 year; this is against certain deadly diseases, the most common of which here are: leptospirosis (caused by rat urine; if the dog is infected, it becomes weak, vomits, and has yellowed lips) and parvovirus (very prevalent in Guadeloupe; it mainly causes severe diarrhea that is almost black and has a very strong, foul odor; the dog will quickly stop eating, become dehydrated, and die). - Also, be careful around toads: if the dog plays with one, bites one, or has any other contact with one, the toad It will spray a white liquid on the puppy, which, if ingested, will cause excessive drooling before gradually becoming paralyzed. You must go to the vet quickly, and if possible, wipe or rinse the inside of its mouth. - Certain plants (e.g., poinsettias, Christmas plants) or foods are also poisonous to dogs; I've attached some descriptive images. Feel free to visit the puppy school on Saturdays at 9:30 am at Domaine Canin (at the airport). It will be beneficial for both you and your puppy, and very educational for children (bring your carrier). There's also the Sirius Campus in Convenance Plaisance (at 10 am). I recommend visiting both as they are very different. The first time, you go to observe with your puppy in your arms or carrier, just so she can get used to the environment and explore it calmly. Then, after her third vaccination, you can... To integrate him into the group, the first session is always free. Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Never hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Sincerely, Patricia Jalabert. ENC Butterfly and Moth Breeder "From the Caribbean Islands".
