What does the adoption of a Bengal cat entail? Adopting a Bengal kitten involves several things: * Time to fulfill the daily needs of the cat: give it love but also help it exert itself through games (physical and mental) and why not outdoor walks in a secure harness * Annual veterinary health costs (control, vaccine, deworming and unforeseen...) * Food costs for quality food * Tolerance during the first weeks of adaptation and for nonsense * Patience to create your relationship and when you don’t understand what he wants to tell you Can a Bengal go outside freely? A Bengal can go out freely outdoors but it is strongly discouraged for the following reasons: *Car accident *Deadly diseases transmitted by other cats (FIV, Felv, Corona...) * Cat Theft Super Exacerbated predation of the Bengal due to its crossing with the ALC (Prionailurus Bengalensis, the little feline of Asia) What is the Bengal? The Bengal is a breed of Cat born in 1963 in the United States. It comes from a cross between a small feline, the Asian leopard cat (Prionailurus Bengalensis) and domestic cats. We don’t call him "Cat Dog" for nothing, the Bengal is a loyal cat and very close to his owners! Yet, this cat is not made for everyone! He is far from the cat 'plan plan' who will laze on the couch all day. The basis of his cross makes him very active and in constant demand for human interaction. What are the behavioral characteristics in the Bengal cat? Very affectionate and playful, he needs a lot of attention and a minimum of presence and space to not present behavioral disorders. Bengal has the ability to be a great communicator! You will notice by his meowings that this talker always knows how to make himself understood! The Bengal Cat needs to exercise daily. He must be able to run, climb, jump, play with water and bring his toys which are his favorite activities! Capable d'apprendre pleins de tours, votre Bengal sera ravis d'être stimulés intellectuellement dans son éducation. The Bengal is a rather sociable cat who easily shares his life with other animals (cats, dogs, rodents...). Is there a minimum space required to adopt a Bengal cat? Many Bengalis live in apartments without this posing a problem for them. A minimum of space arranged for your Bengal can satisfy it, if it is well thought out. Cat trees, wall courses or other spots in height with solar exposure are essential to his well-being. We will advise you step by step before the adoption so that you can offer the best living conditions to your Bengal! What are the incompressible needs of the Bengal? A Bengal will need to be able to: run, climb, jump, play, scratch, put his paws in the water, go to the litter and interact with humans daily. What about Bengal outside? It is inadvisable to let your Bengal out freely! This super predator will have no trouble catching birds, reptiles, rodents, etc. It goes without saying that his crossing will lead him to always go further to expand his territory. Not to mention the risk of theft, cars and deadly diseases transmitted by other cats. The Bengals love going out in a harness and it is very easy to teach them how to walk on a leash! The simplest solution is the provision of a secure enclosure to allow them to enjoy the outdoors without supervision. Can we have several Bengal together? It is quite possible to have several Bengal. If you meet the needs of your Bengal daily and he is sociable, having two will be even more fun! This will simply ask you to organize the new arrival in advance by multiplying the litter and sleep spaces. At what age can my cat join me? Bad habits must be immediately forgotten: NO, a kitten is not weaned at 2 months, so it is by no means ready to join its new family! Before you can enjoy the presence of your poilu at home, it will be necessary to wait until its 16 weeks. Why? • The complete weaning of a kitten ends around its 3 months. At 2 months old, he is clean and knows how to feed himself in the majority of cases, but between 2 and 3 months old, it is emotional and behavioral weaning that is done by the mother and her peers. (learn to play without claws, learn not to jump on the pretty calves of humans he meets, learn not to depend on his mother anymore, learn to stay alone without necessarily having the little brother there, etc, etc...) • The neutralization. All the kittens that leave our kennel are sterilized: * The Bengal is a particularly precocious breed, and can enter into heat (for a female) as early as 4 months old. For our breed, heat can be very stressful for our females, who keep heats by having only 4-5 days of rest between each cycle from 7 to 10 days; it should also be considered that the females score as much as the males (sometimes even more!) and that you can say Goodbye to all your furniture/sofas/TV/sheets/ordinate and of course, as for any other cats of any origin: an unsterilized cat is a cat that runs away, catches diseases, ... (not to mention that a cat in heat or a hot cat is capable of giving you a headache and ear pain as the meows are loud and regular). * The so-called 'early' sterilization is practiced by veterinarians around the 13th or 14th week of life. The little guys recover almost instantly after the end of the general anesthesia, while for the little princesses it will be necessary to wait until the healing is completely completed, so 7 to 10 days after the intervention. This is to ensure that you recover a kitten well in its paws and for which no action related to this intervention is imposed on you. The D-day that’s it, the day has arrived when your life will take a new start with this kitten love. What should you think about before coming to pick it up? Preparation of his reception room: A little kitten, weaned as it may be, can only be stressed by the number of changes that await him that day. that’s why there are some things to think about: * Although at the cattery our babies have a beautiful living space within our family, they will not be able to know their future residence before being there. It will therefore be necessary to ensure that each piece is presented step by step and day by day, to avoid scaring it with too much area in one go. I can only strongly advise you to provide him with a welcome room for his first 2-3 days, in which he will find his litter box, its bowl of kibble and its water fountain, as well as his little cat tree and 2-3 toys. And where of course will you come to spend long minutes (hours?? I see you coming &) to get to know him, without brushing him, without forcing him, and by showing patience in letting him come to you. * If you are already the human of other animals, it will be necessary to ensure that the presentations are carried out in good conditions. For this, and in the same way as for the discovery of his new home, it will be necessary to proceed step by step. Avoid presentations with your other life buddies as long as the baby kitten has not taken its marks. * Each kitten is unique, and some can take more time than others to acclimatize. Donne du temps à ton nouveau compagnon, ne force pas les choses, et rappelle-toi : Étape par Étape. even if it takes 1 semaine pour oser franchir le seuil de la chambre que vous lui avez laissée ouverte pendant 2 jours The journey: * Be aware that we will not let our babies leave without them being safely installed in your vehicle. Even if you have taken an 8-hour plane, 3-hour swim, 1-hour mountain bike and 8-hour car to come, you would leave with your hands in your pockets if you haven’t planned for the transport box that is fine. The transport box must be new (or completely washed AND disinfected), for the simple reason that each household has its "microbial signature", and it will have to be left at home. * If possible, let’s avoid young children. Less noise = less stress. * No other animals on board the vehicle that day. Let’s avoid unnecessary stress for both. Conclusions * Learn about the life of a cat, and the peculiarities of Bengal * Patience, let him socialize; * Take advantage of this time to prepare his small reception area; * Don’t forget to read the reservation contract and the guide that the breeder provided me to remind me of important things; * In case of doubt, do not hesitate and contact the breeder. Kittens leave the cattery at 13-14 weeks for males, 14-15 weeks for females. It is very important for them to stay at least 3 months with their mother for a perfect weaning. They are fully vaccinated (at 8 and 12 weeks) against tvphus and corvza. The rabies vaccine is made only on request for France and mandatory for abroad (100 euros will be charged as an additional charge). I don’t do the vaccine against feline leucosis on kittens less than 6 months old. Our kittens are mainly intended for the company and are sterilized around 12-13 weeks (NON-NEGOTIABLE). They are identified by electronic chip and registered with Icad. All our kittens have a LOOF pedigree (Official Book of Feline Origins), the only proof that you are buying a breed cat and not a type! They are wormed regularly. Their parents are tested negative for FIV/FELV, PKD, Feline Coronavirus. A first contact can be made by email or private message, but for the adoption of a kitten, I ask for a phone call. Adopting a kitten is a thoughtful gesture. To entrust one of my babies to you, I need to feel confident about its future. You are looking for a kitten in good health, balanced and well on its paws, and I wish responsible families for my kittens. Our telephone conversation will allow me to get to know you and define your adoption project. I prioritize choosing loving families for my babies. You adopt a living being with their character and it’s up to you to accept them and love them as they are. I have no doubt that my kittens will bring lots of happiness to their new families, and I wish to ensure that they too will have all the love they deserve. A baby born with us can be saved from its 4 weeks in general. The reservation is made by signing a contract and paying a 30% deposit deducted from the price of the kitten. Attention, this amount is non-refundable if you disengage. If however something happens to your kitten once the contract is signed, of course, your deposit will be refunded. I am sending you the reservation contract and you have 3 days to return it to me signed and accompanied by your payment. During the 3 days, I reserve the kitten for you, and after this period, if I have not received the reservation contract accompanied by your payment, the kitten will become available for sale again. After the reservation, I commit to sending you news, photos and videos regularly of your future kitten. I always listen to my adopters and give advice when needed. In any case, the kitten will leave: * identified by electronic chip * wormed castrated or sterilized before departure with the primary vaccination as well as the booster, + rabies if he leaves for abroad * health booklet, or passport for abroad * certificate of good health issued by our veterinarian * sales contract * copy of the pedigree request to LOOF (Official Book of Feline Origins), or its pedigree if already obtained. copies of the parents' tests * a personalized kitten kit made by me (its food, and other small gifts) a kitten welcome booklet The kitten is to be taken from the cattery. If it is impossible for you to move, I could deliver your kitten to you under certain conditions, and at your expense. The payment is made by bank transfer one week before departure, or in cash on site, if the amount allows it (up to 1000 euros). The kitten will only leave the house once the payment has been fully made. I do not accept checks or pay in installments. The kitten’s first name can be chosen by the adopter if the reservation is made before its 7 weeks. At 8 weeks it’s time for the installation of the electronic chip and the pedigree request. In 2025, the first names start with the letter A. Tariffs 2025 The British, and the breed cat in general, has a certain cost. The adoption of an animal must be well thought out. In addition to the purchase which represents a significant budget, food, litter, unforeseen veterinary expenses, accessories, toys, cat trees, and custody if necessary, are expenditure items that must be taken into account, and one must be ready to assume these charges, who can get very heavy quickly! If it may seem high, the selling price of a kitten means a significant investment from the breeder. This price includes in particular: * The purchase of breeding animals plus transport costs * Genetic testing of breeders * Other health tests * The purchase of affix from LOOF * Annual vaccination of breeders * Very good quality food (dry, wet, meat) * ACACED Mandatory Training Fee * Regular fees for the renewal of maintenance products material. Dietary supplements and vitamins * Fees for litter, bins, toilet houses, bowls, toys, cat trees .. * Vermifuge and anti-flea and tick treatments * MSA Annual Dues, Breed Clubs and Mediator * Fees for the issuance of pedigrees with LOOF * Fee for Feline Shows * Fee for custom kitten kits • Veterinary costs vaccination, sterilization, identification kitten * Unexpected veterinary fees * Mandatory annual veterinary visit fees in the elevator * Fees for the website * Additional electricity and water charges * Materials for births And all the hours we spend by their side for their good socialization to subsequently become happy cats, well in their heads and feet. Breeding is a profession like any other, whether it is passion or not, this commitment requires a huge investment of oneself, money and stress!
